A PPC advertiser pays a certain sum of money every time someone clicks on his ads. A PPC publisher earns money when the ads displayed on his website are clicked.

There is also CPM (cost per 1000 impressions) where an advertiser pays or a publisher earns every 1000 times the ad is show on a website.
